Did you know that the snow plows that scrape the snow and ice off your parking lot can also take the sealcoat with it? Hold on, I’m not suggesting that you sealcoat every year. This is not the North. Up there, they literally have to sealcoat on a yearly basis because of the damage done by snow equipment.
Sealcoating is the most important part of parking lot maintenance. To maintain your asphalt, you should sealcoat and stripe every 3 to 5 years (3 years if you are McDonalds and 5 years if you are a church). But here is something to think about. When we have a few snow events like we have had this year and you multiply it by 2 to 3 years, you may want to consider sealcoating your asphalt pavement a little sooner.
Remember to be vigilant. Look closely for cracks and monitor them to make sure they don’t get bigger. Also look at your lot and compare the color to others in your area. If your’s is lighter, that may be a sign that your sealcoat has worn off. Or just call us to come have a look. It doesn’t cost a dime. Remember, it’s your investment, we just want to help!
